Orion Biotech

Engineering next-generation biologics for regenerative medicine and inflammatory disease.

Orion Biotech is a scientist-led biotechnology company based in Christchurch, New Zealand. We develop a one-dose rabies vaccine candidate for regional public-health elimination, a bio-targeted neural interface for motor rehabilitation, and platforms spanning organoids, hair follicle cloning, vaccine and antibody engineering, and recombinant biologics. We collaborate with research institutions, CDMOs, and clinical partners worldwide.

What Orion Biotech Does

Our lead programs address two global health challenges: rabies, a vaccine-preventable disease that still kills tens of thousands each year, and neural disability, where better motor-intention readout can improve rehabilitation and assistive control. The rabies program develops a one-dose RABV-G vaccine candidate for single-contact immunization of free-roaming dogs and wildlife—because multi-dose schedules are impractical when the same animal cannot be captured repeatedly, and moderate campaign coverage can interrupt regional transmission chains.

Our neural-interface program develops peripheral motor-intention reading—a module within the brain–computer interface stack—using bio-targeted neuromuscular addressing and closed-loop calibration. Supporting capabilities include organoid models, autologous hair follicle cloning, CHO mammalian expression, and analytical CMC development for biologics and vaccines.
